First Assignment: Panda assignment

1.     Would you have used the photographs in the first place? Why or why not?

If I were in the photographers' shoes, I would have thought twice about using the images. I would have asked permission of the photographer and the people who own the photo if I could use it for some project I have been working on. It can also be very risky to use something without permission as well. So no, I would have not used the pictures.

2.     What can the person in the case use in the newsletters instead of someone else’s images?

I think the what the person can use is trying to find a zoo nearby that has pandas and he can take the pictures of his own. If there is not a zoo nearby that has pandas, he can take a quick flight to another state and visit another zoo that has pandas. He can also find a website that provides royalty-free pictures. That way, he can avoid all the copyright trouble and without being sued as well.

3.     How can a person get permission to use the photographs?

What the person can do to get permission to use the photos is that you first must ask the owner of the pictures if you can use the pictures. Then, you must explain what you plan to use the picture on (if it is used for a news article, or for a YouTube video, etc.). And then, you must pay a fee to use that picture.

4.     other thoughts do you have on the case and what did you learn from the case?

The other thoughts I had of the case is that it is dangerous how you can easily get in trouble if you are new to creating articles that require you to have pictures. What I learned from the case was that you always must ask permission to use a certain picture on the internet. Whether it might easily appear on the image choice on Google, you can get in severe trouble if you do not ask permission before even adding it to whatever you plan to do.
